We've been using TI's Panda board but it seems to give us quite a bit of trouble. As a result we can't profile the information that we would like. Does anyone know of any other development boards out there that has a Cortex-A9 on it? And what experiences did you have with it?Matthew Du Puy bradnemire, please poke people that might know this topic for me. Thank you so much.
I like the Panda Board and Galaxy Nexus for Linux and Android related projects but with TI leaving this space, the Panda isn't as well supported. The Arndale is quite well supported by Linaro and other communities but, of course, is not a Cortex-A9.
Developers really appreciate that Hardkernel is committed to open source so I'm confident in recommending the Odroid devices like the U3 even though I haven't used it myself.
What features do you need in a dev board? (Particular OSes, bootloaders, BSP?) What type of trouble are you having with the Panda?
I'll pick up a U3 since I seem to be recommending it more and more and get back to you.
Hi Chin,
I've used Freescale evaluation boards, and I like them. I've mainly used their evaluation board for iMX.51 processors, based on the Cortex-A8, and I loved it. Their iMX.6 range is based on a Cortex-A9, and there is an evaluation board for that too, but I only had it for about two hours, so I can't say. First impressions were good, though. Lots of documentation, a rather well designed I/O system, OS examples, but I did manage to damage/fry an iMX.51 eval board, so I don't know if it is fragile or not, or if I just had bad luck. Might be worth a look.
Echoing Matthew's opinion on the Hardkernel boards - they seem to have better BSP (and on going support for those BSPs) than most boards I've used so would recommend the Odroid family of development platforms.
... and its got Mali powered graphics of course so bonus points for that too .

I would recommend a Digilent board (Zynq or lower-cost ZYBO) for several reasons:
The only down-side is the added cost of programmable logic if you don't need it.
We have Freescale Evaluation Board, which has high performance and long lifetime. Also many of my customers feedback to me that they like its richful interfaces and performance . Here I can share some brief parameters to you. Hope that it can help you better understand it.
Also We have our own R&D team which can give our customers a support for technique.
Also, if you have any questions about this, You can contact me directly by email or Skype.

I went trough all the boards mentioned here. Best that I can tell none have any 32 bit ports Looking for simple board with usb port, two 32 bit port at least.. No operating system required.

Wandboard is worth considering. It is supported by buildroot, armhf. Plus their official support is pretty good too.
Good Luck
Nitin
Yeap, Wand Board is good option. Multiple serial IO interfaces are the challenge. Other option to check out is RioT board, www.riotboard.org again based on Freescale iMX 6 which is A9 based.
or for a ful list of Embedded Computing Boards which indicates the core they are based on can be found @ Single Board Computers
Good luck!
I bought a RiotBoard few months back. The support for this board is not at all good. Sorry, I would not recommend RiotBoard .
