Moderation guidelines

We want everyone to be treated fairly and consistently across the community. That is why we are publicly explaining when moderators may edit your content.

When a moderator will not edit the content

  • Moderators are not responsible for spelling or grammar.
  • When a moderator disagrees with the expressed opinion. Unsupported claims can be challenged by any member.

When a moderator may edit the content

  • Spelling or grammar makes it very difficult to understand an otherwise very pertinent post. Moderators may tweak the content to improve members' understanding.
  • Tags used are inappropriate or incorrect.

When a moderator will edit the content

  • Any inappropriate comment in an otherwise pertinent contribution will be removed. "Inappropriate" is defined in both our Terms of Use and Community Guidelines
    • If the post offers little value and the inappropriate content (libellous, defamatory or offensive statements...) represents most of the content, a moderator may delete the contribution.
    • If the only user contribution is obviously from a robot or could be taken as automatic posting, the content will simply be removed.
  • If a community manager receives a valid take-down request from a content owner.
  • Content posted in the wrong place may be moved by a moderator to a more suitable place. The moderator will generally notify the user by adding a comment on the content explaining the move.
  • Cross-posting is bad practice in every community. Cross posts will be removed.
  • User profiles linking to illegal websites (like downloads, hacked software), link farming or any other fashionable black hat or spamming technique will be edited or removed.
