Members receive real-time private message notifications in the navigation bar "Notifications" or in Live Alerts without needing to refresh the screen.
Clicking the Messages icon causes it to display a short list of private messages including sender avatars. Clicking any message displays the full conversation. Clicking See more in the messages list causes the whole inbox to be displayed
Another notification method for private messages is a Live Alert. This is a small, temporary pop-up appearing in the browser window. Mousing over the alert keeps it visible until it's closed. Otherwise, it disappears after five seconds.
Members can configure whether to receive private message notifications or Live Alerts in their Settings > Options tab.
