Is ARM DS-5 license transferable ?
As I understand, DS-5 product is outdated now, and , ARM rolled out some updated development studio or IDE.
Perhaps, someone will want to sell their "old" DS-5. And I might be interested - looking for one with full bare-metal support for all Cortex-M targets, and _bare_metal support for Cortex-As. (at least A5, A7, A9..).
I might be dreaming, but I thought, perhaps it is possible to buy "second hand" DS-5, for much much cheaper ..
Yes, you can integrate gcc into the tools, and the debugger will support images built with gcc.Yes, there is no limitation in functionality, other than the CPUs that are supported. This includes OS support for a number of RTOSes, including FreeRTOS.https://developer.arm.com/docs/101470/1800/debugging-embedded-systems/about-os-awareness/about-debugging-freertos
Sorry, and Linux kernel?
Yes, kernel debug also supported:https://developer.arm.com/docs/101470/1910/debugging-embedded-systems/about-os-awareness/about-debugging-a-linux-kernel
Thanks Ronan,
I'm thus starting to think that, if you do get all of that with the Bronze, it might be worth the $.
Can I ask you, after 1 year license period, can you still use the studio, without support? It won't lock you out..?
I 1 year license will cease to run after that year. You can purchase a permanent license, which comes with 1 year only of support. If you do not renew that, the tool will still run, but you will not have access to any updates released after that year.
