Unfortunately emoticons are not supported on the platform due to the potential for overuse or abuse. If these are added to the draft they will be removed when the post is put live.

I have check with my colleague and previously it was decided to remove the function to use emoticons and UTF-8 characters. As this has been posted in the ideas section we will keep an eye on this and if there is significant interested in using these we can look into relaxing the rules on the filter.
