Disabling dvfs

I did this on my rooted Note3 device:

echo 'off' > /sys/devices/platform/mali.0/dvfs

I see the value is always 0. But when I run an application and query the clock, it goes from 24 to 480 and keeps dipping to 420 in between. I don't want this - I want a constant 480MHz clock. This affects the performance numbers I am trying to gather. I can fix clocks on TK1 and Adreno420 but not Mali. Please help!

  • The DVFS integration on the Note 3 is implemented by Samsung, not the Mali drivers, so you may have more luck raising this when their team.

It's worth noting that most mobile devices ship with some basic thermal control which cannot be disabled - if you ran the CPU\GPU at max frequency for a prolonged period without this thermal throttling you could damage the ASIC (there is only so much heat you can dissipate out of a device with a plastic case and no airflow).
