At what clockspeed does the MALI T628MP6 run inside the Samsung Galaxy S5 ?

The Galaxy S5 is using the Exynos 5422 chipset in which acc to wikipedia the T628mp6 should run at 695 mhz but my phone scores the same as the Note 3 in the 3D MARK benchmark. The Note 3 is using the exynos 5420 in which the t628mp6 is running at 533 mhz.

On the other hand the SGS5 scores more than the note 3 in the GFX BENCH benchmark.

I am really confused  about the speed it is actually running at .

Cheers!

  • Hi abhmkh,

Most devices expose the clock information for the GPU, so you could monitor the clock speed yourself and even see what the manufacturer has deemed the best ranges of frequencies to use with their DVFS policy.

We dont control this directly so if you have any issues with the clock speed, you would need to contact the device manufacturer.

An example on where to find the clock speed: (Note, this will change for different devices. This is specifically for the Mali based Samsung Galaxy S5)

    cd /sys/devices/11800000.mali/
cat clock          # Current Clock speed
cat dvfs_table     # DVFS Table of Frequencies

I hope this helps, if you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

    Kind Regards,
