[AnandTech] No Mali GPU for Samsung

    Imagination Technologies (PowerVR)

    My Comment :

    The New Year is a very important topic performance. This year will determine the players who will break seriously and will actually qualify for the next big step in mobile industry -entering numbers in computer, which marked a major development. And AMD, and Nvidia (PC) are in crisis. One third of the total production of Nvidia's Tegra, but AMD is struggling with financial difficulties.

    Therefore, each step would prove decisive as to who will do what on performance, because a significant delay (eg Tegra 4) can be crucial to who will set the rules.


    I found one glaring information and can not miss the new rumor is rife in the community.

    Colleagues from AnandTech is suggested during the presentation of Exynos 5 Octa these words:

    We're now hearing that the Exynos 5 Octa may actually include an Imagination Technologies PowerVR SGX GPU - we're trying to confirm this asap.


    If so, it should answer the following questions:

    1. The question is how from Imagination Technologies (PowerVR) will serve between two companies that have very strong hatred? You have to settle the question of who what models to use GPU PowerVR. Or is there a deal between Apple and Samsung for final separation and distribution of the market at the expense of others? It already guess :)

    2. But Samsung has plenty of power, why choose PowerVR? In the arsenal of Samsung's ARM Mali T658, which was developed in 2011 and e quite powerful. It has up to 8 cores in performance 272G. It is specifically designed for big.little  process. Not to mention that develops and T678.

    3. The question is more prepared you are for the PowerVR big.little process?

    Imagination Technologies (PowerVR) offer the most powerful mobile graphics performance. So powerful that others can not reach it, or even if it is reached in a very short time because the announcement is striking. PowerVR gives enormous power to the most productive time device - iPad 4, even after the announcement of the Tegra 4. But there remains a strong competitor - Mali T Series GPU, as I see great growth and great power and should not be underestimated.

    I really do not see the reason for such a move. But the arrangements can sometimes change the natural course of things. It would be disastrous if lost Mali as an alternative to the big players in Mali because there really might. I am optimistic about Mali.
