I would like to start a discussion on ideas about IoT sensors and mixed signal chips.

What are some of the more common elements of IoT designs for sensors?

Parents
  • Conceptually, all IoT endpoints are a variation on the same theme:

    • a 32 bit processor
    • connectivity (RF)
    • sensor / MEMS / Analogue

Then as you dig deeper into the design, you see that you have infinite variations that are actually required to meet a specific deployment scenario. Things such a:

    • will the sensor be on the same die or on a separate die?
mixing analogue and digital is much easier these days but you still have many design factors to consider
    • Which radio to use for connectivity. Again, integrated or not.
    • Software for connectivity
    • Security
    • Smart sensor or plain sensor

This actually makes the design wide open for innovation as opposed to being a copy paste.

was this sort of the answer you were looking for?
