Hello there,
In one of the project, I want to use ARM compiler toolchain 5.05 update 1(build 106) in windows,
I have downloaded and installed the compiler successfully it have license.ref file inside the installed folder,
after setting environment veriables i started compile but shows license related errors,
I find for the license file in the website but it asks for the serial number which i didn't have.
So can you please guide me for this license setup,
that from where we can buy or get the license file for this ARM compiler.
Thank you for contacting us, you will receive the serial number when you purchase a license. You can purchase a license via our online store, Arm direct sales or one of our regional distributors. PM me if you need more details.
You didn't mention the CPU type you are compiling for, and whether you need a safety qualified compiler edition?
Hello Tony Smith,
thanks for this valuable reply,
actually, we are looking for compiler for ARM A7 Processor CPU type.
actually this CPU is used inside one modem and modem supplier gives us their SDK but for the compilation of that SDK we required ARM compiler toolchain 5.05 update 1(build 106) in windows
so we got an error of license during compilation and the FAE of the modem told us to get license,
please provide proper steps for the license for this specific compiler version .
Hi Harshil,
Your question was forwarded to me, I am a FAE working with Arm tools and will be happy to help.
As Tony mentioned below, the first step is to acquire a license for the compiler, there are multiple ways you could do that, please send me an email if you want more details or support on that: bruno.castelucci@arm.com
Once you acquire the license, you will be given a PSN (Product Serial Number), you will use that PSN to generate a license file. More details on that: https://developer.arm.com/tools-and-software/software-development-tools/license-management/resources/tutorials/retrieving-existing-licenses
You might also need to install a license server, in case you choose to use a floating license. Please let me know if you chose that path, as I can also send you more details on the process.
The webpage below goes over the setup details for your system after you have downloaded and installed the license: https://developer.arm.com/tools-and-software/software-development-tools/license-management/resources/product-and-toolkit-configuration
In short words you will need to set some environment variables to tell the compiler where the license is, and which type of product variant you are using, along with a few other settings.
Thanks and best regards,
Bruno
