In the 27 years since its inception, Hot Chips has become one of the world’s leading high performance microporocessor event. Attracting more than 500 attendees from across the world, Hot Chips presents the very best of the industry to chip designers, architects, engineers, press and analysts.
ARM can generally be found soaking up the silicon valley sun for the event and this year was no different. We sent resident ARM Fellow and Graphics & Multimedia guru Jem Davies along to talk about our new GPU architecture, Bifrost.
The third of ARM’s programmable GPU architectures, Bifrost was designed to support new and emerging use cases, technologies and APIs. Taking a deeper dive into the workings of the architecture, Jem showed the benefits of key architectural innovations like clause shaders, system coherency and much more.
