Changes to the Arm Community: A new look and improved features

Hello to our developer ecosystem!

We are thrilled to introduce a fresh new look for our community. We are making a series of changes to improve user experience on Arm Community. The new design is modern, accessible, and responsive.

The following enhancements are being introduced:

  • A clean, responsive, and accessible design
  • Light and dark modes for browsing
  • Easier access to Arm’s developer events
  • Improved search to help you find content faster
  • Better suggested and related content recommendations

What these changes mean for you

Some pages will show our new look and feel to begin with, and the rest will be updated in later phases. Think of this as renovating a house. We are beginning with certain rooms, and once they are finished, we will move on to the remaining rooms until the whole Arm Community site has been updated.

No interruption for anyone using our community. All the services we offer on our platform will continue to be available for you as they are today.

To monitor the effect of the changes we are making to the Arm Community, we are applying updates through multiple planned releases over the coming months. The planned releases and areas of the platform that will be updated are as follows:

  • Phase 1: Community homepage, user profile and settings
  • Phase 2: Blog pages
  • Phase 3: Events and calendars
  • Phase 4: Forums
  • Phase 5: All remaining areas of the site

Revamped homepage: Personalized and dynamic

One of the biggest changes we are making in this first release is to our homepage. The homepage has always had two main purposes:

  • Get you where you need to go. Whether it be by searching or navigating, we want to make it as easy as possible to find what you are looking for.
  • Let you know about important updates from Arm that are relevant to developers. From events happening in our developer program, or updates to the Arm Community (as with this blog post). If there is something happening that we think is important for our developer ecosystem to know about, then we use the homepage to advertise that information.

In addition, we surface member-generated content to provide a summary of activity that is happening across the community.

The changes we are making build on these two objectives. Firstly, we are connecting our search to the wider library of content across the Arm Community and Arm Developer platforms. Your search will be scoped to results from the Arm Community initially, but you will also have the option of adjusting your search to filter through a wider knowledge base of content to help you find what you are looking for.

Enhanced search

Secondly, we are replacing the banner on the homepage with 3 cards to advertise important information from us here at Arm to you, our developer ecosystem. This will be an easier and more accessible way to communicate with you.

New homepage

Finally, as we do today, we will surface our latest blog content, along with a stream of activity from across the community. I also would like to highlight the ‘Can you help’ section here as well. Our community is home to many experts, and this is one way that we encourage members to help each other with any questions where they can. Please do take a moment if you can see a fellow member could benefit from your expertise.

User profiles

Your profile page is a powerful record of your activity, key information, and achievements. We are introducing a cleaner layout for your profile, giving a clear snapshot of who you are and your key contributions.

Your earned achievements and any roles you have been assigned will clearly be on display. As will all groups that you join across the Arm Community. This is another way to navigate quickly to the specific groups you are participating in.

Profile and Settings

We are taking steps to rollup of your community profile and settings with your Arm Account settings. Previously, the community settings stood separately from your Arm Account settings.

Now they are contained within your Arm Account, so you can control how Arm notifies you of community information and updates in one central location.

The settings have been simplified so you can focus on the notifications that matter to you. You can set your preferences on receiving email and web notifications so that you do not miss any updates you need to know about.

Stay tuned for further updates

We will provide updates in the Community Blog as we roll out changes, so you know what is coming, and how it affects you.

The easiest way to stay up to date is to subscribe to our Community Help blog.

  1. Open the Community Blog
  2. Click the   Settings icon in the top-right corner
  3. Select Turn Blog Notifications On

Subscribe to our Community blog

We will also link to further Arm Community updates on our homepage by using one of the three advertising cards (as we have done today with this blog post). I have highlighted this in the screenshot below.

Try it out and share your thoughts

Our goal is always to make the Arm Community easier to navigate and more valuable for you. This update of the Arm Community is designed using user-experience best practices and developer feedback.

However, this does not mean the end of our development. This summer we will be rolling out our 2025 member survey, where you can give feedback on your experiences using this community. Keep an eye out for an announcement in the next couple of months. We also have a feedback button available on every page where you can contact us any time.

Finally, if there are any questions you have regarding the updates in this post, please leave a comment below and a member of the Community team will respond.

Many thanks,

Oli
