I read the User's Guide of the above mentioned MCBx51 Evaluation Board and I saw that, next to the 'common' 8051 cores, also some 'exotic' versions are supported, such as 8xC664 (pg. 28 of the User's Guide). Since there's mentioned "devices like", I guess that list is not final and more are supported. I was wondering if the versions 89C668/9 in particular are also supported. Best rgds, --Geert
I was wondering if the versions 89C668/9 in particular are also supported. The 668 is one of the 66x siblings and should thus be full7y supported, the 669 (I wish they had not named it so) is a Mx sibling and thus most likely not. The 669 in 64k mode may be supported, but if you use 64k mode why use a 669. Erik
Since there's mentioned "devices like", I guess that list is not final and more are supported. The problem is that there is atleast one new 8051 derivative introduced each week (on average). Many of these devices will work with the MCBx51 board. However, at the time we made the board, these devices were not introduced or even designed. Unfortunately, it is up to the user to figure out (by reading the data sheet) if the device is really pin-for-pin compatible with the devices the MCBx51 board supports. Jon
"Unfortunately, it is up to the user to figure out (by reading the data sheet) if the device is really pin-for-pin compatible with the devices the MCBx51 board supports." Perhaps you should give a prize for each newly-discovered, proven-compatible variant...? ;-)
Perhaps you should give a prize for each newly-discovered, proven-compatible variant...? ;-) Maybe a spare evaluation board? OK, now I'll spit on my hands... ;-) Best rgds, --Geert
"Maybe a spare evaluation board?" That'd do nicely...! ;-)
