the forum has been awwwwwwwwwfully slow for some days. I even get occasional time-outs. Erik
"The forum is slow for me here in England. That's 'cause you guys don't comm on the right wires in the cable. Seriously, I'm having the same problems and even got a "500:Page not found" (or something to that effect) this morning after quite a wait.
Is the speed of the forum still slow? It is extremely fast here. Reinhard
I should correct: viewing messages is fast, posting messages is extremly slow. We will investigate. Reinhard
most often it is not too bad, but as others have mentioned posting is where it almost always hit. As an example when I clicked on this thread, WE came back after a long time with "page not found" <-, <-, ->, -> and boom there it was. Erik
posting is where it almost always hit the above posting took about a minute to "take" :( Erik
Well, 1 minute, that's already "real time"! ... (...in the IT world...)
Well, 1 minute, that's already "real time"! ... (...in the IT world...) thanks Stéphane, You made my day Erik
This is a test to see how long replies take. Jon
OK - That took about 50 seconds to post. We're not working on anything and nothing has changed AFAIK. Jon
Seems to be about 30 secs from here (UK), also it has stopped returning to the thread automatically after posting.
also it has stopped returning to the thread automatically after posting That's so we can profile the message post engine. Jon
FYI it took my post 40 seconds to "take" yesterday. I'm in Houston TX. $0.02
We found the problem. Last week, we made a few changes to the database that would speed up the thread list output. The changes reduced the list display from about 5 seconds to about 1 second. A side-effect of this change is that a little more processing is required to re-order the list after a new message is posted. This change is what caused the delay in posting to the forum. We have updated a few indexes to make them work faster. Let's see if this solves the posting problem. Jon
OK. That only took about 5 seconds to post. Can several of you post to this thread to see if this issue has been addressed? Thanks, Jon
