Hello everyone,
I'm trying to use the ARM Energy Probe on a Windows 7 64bit but the driver does not want to install.
Do you have any idea or hint for this issue ? Could not find anything on the "Search" menu.
Thank you.
Regards,
Anthony Harivel
Hi Anthony,
Plugging the Energy Probe in to my Windows 7 machine installed the drivers automatically, so I couldn't test the following suggestion, but it should work:
You should just need to install the driver by right clicking the (I guess) unidentified device listed at port COMX in Device Manager and pointing the driver wizard at the file ARM_EnergyProbe.inf which is located here: C:\Program Files\DS-5\sw\energy_probe
If this doesn't work, let me know and I'll see whether any of my colleagues have had the same issue.
Thanks,
Joe
Hello Joe,
Thanks you very much for your answer. I've already done that but Windows tell me that this is not compatible with "Windows 7 x64".
I'm very surprise because I've installed the current version of DS-5 (5.17.1) for Windows x64.
Anthony
Are you able to provide any more information from any error messages / logs that you're getting please?
If you have a 64-bit installation of DS-5 it shouldn't be an issue. I'll try to replicate it again.
Yes... But I'm sorry this is in German.
The problem looks like it doesn't give the VID/PID when I check with "Propriety" > "Detail".
It's always "UNKNOWN"
I try my AEP dongle on a 32bit Windows and it does work !
I try on several 64bit Windows in our compagny and it always give me this error.
Hope it helps.
Thank you again.
No problem, let me investigate and see if I can find out what the problem is.
Thank you very much for your time. I appreciate it.
Well this is really strange. On a Laptop with Windows 64bit, it works straight away.
But I've tested on our workstations (brand: HP) and we all got the same isssue.
I'm really confused because I tested the USB communication with a USB analyser and it seems to work because it gives the right "Get Description" to Windows with the VID/PID.
Dunno what to do now...
Hope you have a better luck.
I wonder whether it's something specific to the USB ports/controller on the workstations you're using? This might sound random - but have you tried the AEP in every available USB socket on your workstation?
Yeah I've tried all the USB ports on my workstation...
Sadly I can't continue to check this problem, I have to move on, otherwise I'll get into trouble !
Thanks for everything you've done. I really appreciated it.
Best Regards,
Apologies I couldn't help you out further here.
It might be a good idea to raise a support request so that this issue is logged with our technical support team for future reference.
After some time spent on another project, I made a second research about my problem and found the issue.
In our PC workstation, we've got VWware Workstation and it seems that there is an issue with the "VMware USB daemon" services because when I stop it, my ARM energy probe is recognised.
It might help someone that have the same issue...
Glad that you found a solution - thanks for posting it back on here.
