The Inventors Challenge - 2024
....Nurturing tech innovation

Background

Since 2022, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Ministry of Education in India, Arm Education and STMicroelectronics have been organizing an annual contest in support of the government’s goal to expand and enrich India’s rapidly growing electronics manufacturing and innovation ecosystem.

'The Inventors Challenge 2024' aims to enrich the mission to grow the semiconductor talent pool and nurture innovation across faculty and students.

Eligibility

The competition is open to all faculty and students at engineering colleges in India, who are pursuing or teaching undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

Entry Requirements

This is a team event, and each team should have one faculty and up to four students. The entry idea must be submitted only by the faculty member on behalf of the team and each institute can submit maximum of three ideas with three distinct teams respectively.

Semi-finalist will be invited to demonstrate their prototype at the venue, details of the venue will be intimated closer to the date for more clarity. (One faculty and minimum of two students required)

The idea include Smart Mobility and AI component, and are based on the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (https://sdgs.un.org/goals):

  • Good Health and Well-Being
  • Affordable and Clean Energy
  • Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
  • Sustainable Cities and Communities
  • Artificial Intelligence at the Edge
  • Smart Mobility

Good Health and Well-Being:

The goal focuses on ensuring healthy lives and promotion of well-being every individual at all ages. The aim is to achieve universal health coverage and provide access to safe and affordable medicines and vaccines across globe. The goal seeks to end epidemics, infectious and non-infectious diseases through prevention and treatment.

Affordable and Clean Energy:

Our everyday life depends on reliable and affordable energy, and fossil fuels such as coal, oil or gas have been major sources of electricity production. The consumption of energy is the dominant contributor to climate change and this goal focuses on ensuring clean energy sources such as solar, wind and thermal by upgrading technologies to provide clean sustainable environment.

Sustainable Cities and Communities:

The goal focuses on making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe and resilient. The focus is to provide sustainable urban development by implementing policies and practices that prioritize access to basic services, affordable housing, efficient transportation, and green spaces for all human beings. It also strengthens efforts to protect and safeguard the world’s cultural and natural heritage.

Artificial Intelligence at the Edge:

Artificial intelligence is the science of making machines that can think like humans. It can do things that are considered smart and has an ability to judge like humans. It enables data-driven insights, optimization techniques, and offer personalized solutions. AI helps to tackle complex challenges, promote resource efficiency, and drive innovation and provides valuable insights and support evidence-based decision-making for various development initiatives.
