Back in October, we announced the launch of Arm Education Media - a subscription-based digital content hub offering interactive online courses and e-first textbooks. The aim of this hub is to help address the growing education/skills gap in engineering, by developing academically rigorous and highly interactive content that demonstrates and harnesses state-of-the-art technologies from the Arm ecosystem. This content will equip learners with industry-relevant skills that are highly sought after in the modern workplace.
Today, we announce the availability of Arm Education Media's first four online courses for both institutional and individual subscriptions. The four courses represent a full curriculum on Arm-based embedded systems' design and programming, giving learners a rounded experience in this important field of computing. The courses are:
1. Efficient Embedded Systems Design and Programming
A very popular course which teaches students how to design and program modern Arm Cortex-M based microcontrollers in low-level, giving them a solid grounding in this important, growing area.
2. Rapid Embedded Systems Design and Programming
This course provides students with easy-to-use APIs (high level functions and drivers) to develop embedded systems rapidly and productively. Arm Mbed is used in the current edition of this course.
3. Internet of Things (IoT)
This course teaches students how to design efficient and low cost IoT systems that connect embedded sensors using commodity smartphones via low power Bluetooth Low Energy, with cloud-based services.
4. Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
This course teaches students how to design efficient DSP systems using powerful yet low cost and low power modern Arm Cortex-M based microcontrollers.
Individuals can subscribe to any of these courses online at https://subscribe.cleeng.com/arm.

We also announce today the publication of Arm Education Media's first textbook: Embedded Systems Fundamentals with Arm Cortex-M based Microcontrollers: A Practical Approach. The textbook, authored by Prof. Alex Dean, introduces students to creating Arm Cortex-M based embedded systems. This first edition demonstrates fundamental embedded system concepts and techniques using the Cortex-M0+ based low-cost FRDM-KL25Z MCU development board. Topics covered include Cortex-M0+ CPU architecture, interrupts, peripherals, and embedded programming.
Individuals in North America, UK and Australia can purchase the e-textbook online. Worldwide online purchase will be available soon.
The print textbook can be ordered by emailing edumedia@arm.com. Institutions can also order bulk purchases by emailing edumedia@arm.com
Arm Education Media has an ambitious roadmap of online course and textbook publications. Upcoming titles include:
In order to keep up with the latest technological developments from the Arm ecosystem, Arm Education Media' titles have a built-in annual maintenance cycle and a four-year upgrade cycle.
