not able to connect p89v51rd2 with serial port

I have bought a p89v51rd2 ic with small development board, for ISP programming, but when i'm connecting through the serial port its showing it is "not able to connect with given baud rate(9600), try with lower baud rate, and try to reset ISP." I tryed with all baud rate, but its showing the same msg..
can you send me the circuit of burner and its details.......

  • And yu would think that because they are USB/Serial converters they would be 'standard'

Oh, they mostly are. The problem is that ISP is not really a standard job for RS232 links.

USB simply cannot be used to fully emulate the behaviour of a PC serial port at any but the very lowest of baud rates. Some details of the timing will be lost. It's a matter of luck whether that unavoidable fact breaks a given application or not.
