Assign Command

Can you please explain the usage of the Assign command in the debug mode. The notes in microvision help aren't very clear.I couldn't understand the <inreg> , outreg part.
Could someone please elaborate on it with illustrations.

    Go to your Complete User's Guide and search on ASSIGN(all caps). It gives complete functions of the command plus examples. Basiclly the ASSIGN command in the debugger allows the user to re-direct serial communications to the PC hardware serial port. If like me, you have a laptop with no serial port, you may or may not be able to use a USB to serial adapter as your comm port. I have some that work well and others that will not work at all.
