I can visualize many beginners doing this as a first en.wikipedia.org/.../Hello_world_program the poor sods are not going to get an error message, the code will just hang.
I know why, but consider it bad that you get a hang, not an error message, especially when you feebly try do run Keil for the first time. Yes Please read the manual should cover it, but did you Please read the manual the first time you started C?

Invalid argument. Beginners are regularly showing up on these sites with zero programming skills.
They don't know difference between compiler/linker. They don't know the language keywords. They don't know how to initialize variables. They can't write correct conditional statements. They don't know that it isn't enough to have header files - the linking step also requires the object or library files. ...
MDK is a development tool not a teaching machine. If one does not know what he is doing, one does not know what he is doing. Better to read a book about embedded development before making such mistakes, then.
If one does not know what he is doing, one does not know what he is doing.
Yes. Better to know a little about ones subject before making a really embarrasing posting where one cannot bear replying to an answer one does not want to see.

If this is directed at me:
what is embarrassing about "not very nice to beginners"
when "I, of course, discovered this by 'forgetting', but, as opposed to a beginner it only took me a minute to go DOOH!"
my thought was EXACTLY what I titled the post with.
If I were the only one that has 'forgotten' some requirement when adding something then I really should be 'embarrassed' but simce I'm sure I'm not, I do not feel the least embarrassed.
So "Ashley Madison" has found a friend.
No Erik, it most certainly is not; and unreserved appologies to you for causing you to think it was. It is very doubtful that any embedded developer has never forgotten the point you raise; I know I have!
The one who my post was intended for almost certainly knows the one who it was intended for.
I'll make a real big exception here and respond to point out the obvious: I don't care what you post, you are welcome to continue to. Feel free, the weekend is long. I'll be entertained. Go for it!
I don't care what you post
LOL. I just wonder if any support teams say the same of your bug reports.
simce I'm sure I'm not, I do not feel the least embarrassed.
I guess that's why some people are shameless, :)
