i have to write a scatter file for lpc3250. how to start? what is scatter file? why for it is?

I'm a bit confused. How do you know that you need to write a scatter file if you don't know what a scatter file is? You create scatter files when you need more options than you get by just filling in the standard project memory region settings.
Did you try searching in uVision Help or Google?
Yes - as Scatter files are used by the Linker, they are described in the Linker Manuals
I am also confused. In lpc22xx,24xx i never linked this scatter files.I have downloaded some example codes from net for lpc3250. There settings are linked (options for target -> linker -> scatter file -> blinky.sct) with a sct file. so, is it necessary to link a scatter file? or any other way to proceed?
