P.S. I'm bored
Bending that reply in neon:
No, it's yes, but what about the can?
I asked if it was appropiate where you live

UAVs.
The Israelis 'pioneered' the UAVs and when the USA decided to get serious about them they had a plan.
A 3-point plan: Long-Range, Short-Range and Close-Range UAVs
They chose the Short-Range to set the standard for the LR and SR platforms. McDonnel Douglas vs Israeli Air Industries.
The fly-off competition was hands-down McDonnell Douglas' UAV system. (Best computer systems I've ever seen). But IAI won the $700M USD contract. "Known as foreign aid."
IAI turned around and purchased McDonnell Douglas equipment since it was way better. IAI had a little accident with one of their UAVs.
They launched it without any real brains, and it flew from [redacted] into the shores of Mexico. IAI asked the US navy to retrieve it.
The USN said "Nope: not our waters."
IAI Asked Mexico to retrieve it.
Mexico said "Yes, but you'll foot the bill."
Never say yes to that: Mexico charged too much and it went into litigation.
Meanwhile, the Bosnian war is kicking up in a bad way. The CIA needs a UAV, so they hire General Atomics to build an aircraft.
General Atomics builds the Predator, and they used MY stuff in it.
The Predator now establishes "The Standard" for UAVs. $700M in USD down the drain... well I'm sure IAI benefited.
McDonalds.
The McDonalds 'pioneered' the burgers and when the kids decided to get serious about them they had a plan.
A 3-point plan: Supersize-Range, Large-Range and Regular-Range burgers.
They chose the Large-Range to set the standard for the LR and SR platforms. Burger King vs McDonalds.
The flip-off competition was hands-down Burger King's burger system. (Best burger systems I've ever seen). But McDonalds won the $7 USD contract. "Known as minimum wage."
McDonalds turned around and purchased Burger King equipment since it was way better. McDonalds had a little accident with one of their burgers.
They launched it without any real meat, and it fried from [mechanically rendered] into the belly of America. McDonalds asked the US food administration to retrieve it.
The USFA said "Nope: not real food."
McDonalds asked America to retrieve it.
America said "Yes, but you'll foot the bill."
Never say yes to that: America charged too much and it went into litigation.
Meanwhile, the Burger war is kicking up in a bad way. The CIA needs a McDonalds, so they hire Admiral Beefsteak to build a mincer.
Admiral Beefsteak builds Arnie, and he used MY stuff in it.
Arnie now establishes "The Standard" for burgers. $7 in USD down the drain... well I'm sure America benefited.
Burgers. The cornerstone of a good conspiracy. -- George Bush, circa one of his better days.
This just gets weirder and weirder.
Speaking of the Predator: I read a while ago that its satellite video uploads were available (until recently) to commercial software packages (connected to the right antenna of course...) that were used by the insurgents in Afghanistan and Pakistan, because the video stream was not encoded. Hopefully that was not your stuff, Vince ;-)
sure, there, evidently is no way to make you do what's asked or say "NO" instead of asking someone to do stupid fish tricks.
Hm, I wonder whether a can of sardines would count as "fish".
What were you trying to make me do?
Yes, a can of sardines would count as fish. If you believe some people there may be alternate universes in multidimensional space-time where (or would that be 'when'?) a can of sardines would not count as fish, but for one I'll stick with what is, as far as I can tell, here and now.
What it wouldn't count as, though, is 'a fish', what with it being 'a can'.
I believe you were asked to enrich our understanding of your psyche with the bliss of you professional endeavors. We are curious - why not tell? What is the big secret? Maybe you are yourself in the weapons industry and trying to cleanse your conscious by attacking Vince? And no, I'm not going to hold a fish over my head for you!
Will you please tell us what you've worked on? ..... post a picture of yourself holding a fish above your head and I'll tell you...
high up above, the above was posted. You, as usual, have refused to understand what is not positive about you and been evasive, instead of direct.
What I have tried to get through the tid lid is that, if you do not want to do something, say 'NO' instead of requesting stupid sardine tricks or such. I know that saying 'no' is not considered politically correct, which seems to be your main concern, but asking for stupid fish tricks is no better.
The APA references above convinced me that there is something here...Do you think Jack Sprat fixes radios or something like that? Erik once suggested he's an academic. I consider this a viable possibility; But just in case, I'll reiterate my previous suggestion, Jack:
Maybe you are yourself in the weapons industry and trying to cleanse your conscious by attacking Vince?
You do have a most fertile imagination!
You, as usual, have refused to understand what is not positive about you and been evasive, instead of direct.
I do understand what's not positive about me, but I'm unable to see what that has to do with the price of fish. It seemed like a direct enough request to me - no ambiguity about what was required.
What I have tried to get through the tid lid
'Tid lid'? Is that another secret code to go with the can and the bending neon and all that other stuff?
if you do not want to do something, say 'NO'
But I do!
instead of requesting stupid sardine tricks or such.
It's not a trick and I didn't specify a sardine.
I know that saying 'no' is not considered politically correct
I'm amazed you're even aware of the concept of being politically correct. Is that really how you see me?
When I was bored, I posted one of my babies. And your darn straight I'm proud of that: it is impressive. When you get one of those babies to work and your ego will get a nice boost.
I figured others would post their proud moments in embedded history too. Maybe since there are other 'cool' stuff out there we might be impressed too.
We all know our wives and brother-in-laws are un-impressed, but at least this group of people can appreciate the accomplishments that do/might get posted.
Tangents occurred and Jack started in with his "brand" of commenting. It devolved from there.
A direct challenge went to Jack but "My 2 Cents" took up the challenge and then [in Sprat form] called me a Major Idiot. "My 2 Cents" hasn't said a peep since I asked if Sprat was one and the same.
Like Per said, it is hard to 'show' our stuff since there is IP involved and NDAs signed.
Clearly "Jack Sprat" said "NO" when he wanted to break the deal (ask nicely and...) and went on to ask for the absurd. And in the mean time he gets anti-military and anti-conservative. (Yes, I did get anti-Liberal: I'm also anti-Stupid too).
My "nom de plume" gets besmirched by fish-heads based upon what?---my military connection? So, I think Tamir is hitting a nerve when he boldly points out trying to cleanse your conscious.
So, Sprat and others, *IF* you have something cool to share, please do so.
Tamir, ...because the video stream was not encoded. Rather surprising, but mistakes happen. These UAVs can be chained and linked to one another from a central ground station. They do have the ability to transmit flight controls and video from one UAV to the next UAV to the next... and ultimately to the Ground Station. (That is not a secret, it should be published somewhere, but since I was in the UAV business I know this stuff).
