Hi all,
I want to use the USB feature provided in the LPC2141. I want to use a pen-drive for collecting information from the hardware-board. Is there need of any additional hardware in between my controller and USB port?? or can i use it directly???
I am not able to gather any useful information from the user manual of lPC 2141.
Please guide me on what to do...and how to approach the topic.........

The 2nd paragraph of section 1.1, on page 3, tells you:
" ... USB 2.0 Full Speed device ..."
The 5th bullet point of section 1.2, on the same page, tells you:
"USB 2.0 Full Speed compliant Device Controller..."
Chapter 14, starting on page 194, describes the USB Device Controller; the first line of the 3rd paragraph in that chapter tells you:
"The device controller enables 12 Mb/s data exchange with a USB host controller..."
That amply answers your question!
Hi andy, Do i need to have additional hardware for my board inorder to use USB.

Before you even think about hardware, you need to gain a better understanding of USB!
In particular, the significance of the terms "Host" and "Device" (aka "slave")
You could start here: http://www.keil.com/usb/

Hi Pavan,
As Andy pointed out, an extra USB host controller is required to connect a pen drive to your MCU.
Vinculum VNC1L provides an easy implementation of "inteligent" host for small volume production. This chip connects to your MCU over SPI or parallel port. Sending DOS-like simple commands to this chip, you are able to manipulate files on a pen drive connected to the chip.

It supports direct connection of USB pen drive to these chips. But as just FAT16 is available on this library, you may want to extend it for FAT12 / FAT32, too.
