Hello guys
Very exited about the 8052, it is a dream come true. extremly promising for me
i know about the source stuff and the main goal of the 8052 being "compatible" for older parts
but are any of the major developers interested in making things for the 8052?
if so, what will it be the medium on which the stuff will be on?
thanks
The rumors of the death of the '51 has been greatly exaggerated (paraphrasing Samuel Clemens) If it still works and people can still use it, there is no problem with it. A lot of new designs go for 'sexy' parts because ... there new and cool. It's the hammer syndrome (give an engineer a hammer and everything is a nail.) The main reason to use an C51 part is it is familiar to a lot of people few surprises as a consequence. Use an ARM for what an ARM is good for use the c51 for what it is good for.
Now the C251 that is mostly dead.
8052 however has still a useful life.
You must make really high volume devices because most of my toys were 100 to 5000 per year. Bit more pricey however as a consequence.
