Hello I am using microVision2 V2.40. When I'm trying to open the project file I have a following get this message Can't read project project file 'ProjectFileName'!. Anyone had similar problems?
When do you get this message?
Is it when uVision starts, and tries to re-open the previous project? If so does the Project still exist, and is it still in the same location?
If not, please provide full details of exactly the steps you take, and exactly what happens in each...

"I go to Project->Open Project and when I select the project file I have that pop up message"
uVision Project files (.uv2 and .opt) are plain text - what happens if you try to open it in Notepad?
I can open it in notepad. It looks like this:
"### uVision2 Project, (C) Keil Software
### Do not modify !
" and so on. So problem is only when I'm opening from Keil.
Its because your folder name or file name in another language. Change it to your computer defined language.
If the problem hasn't been solved in the last 12 years, I doubt there's much point thinking about it now!
Another idea is that you (today!) are using Windows 8 or 10. These versions are not supported with uVision older than V4.50, see:
http://www.keil.com/support/docs/3622.htm
Err ... Windows 8 or 10 were not available 12 years ago - when the question was asked!
;-) ...Of course I mean that today(!) he is using Windows 8/10 (I have extended my reply to point this out )
Note, my reply is addressed to today's users of uVision2 that see this forum post and recognize misbehaviour
I know its 12 years ago. I have faced same problem few days ago. Then i realized that my folder name mixed with english and chinese language. So, if anyone face these kind of problem later on he can understand where is the problem.

Would've been helpful to make that clear!

It's good that it fixed your specific problem - but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will fix every case of this message.
eg, rkopsch has given another possible reason.
We shall likely never know what the original problem actually was.
Yes i agree with you. There could be another reason.
Hello, I know the last time you replied to this post was 10 months ago, but I am having this issue now too. In my case, I am using Keil Vision 5, and I was saving all my projects on a USB drive until one day the drive became corrupted and unreadable for some reason. I used EaseUS to recover the files but the projects are unable to open. Now I will answer the questions you asked the original person who had the issue. No, it is when I try to open the project either within keil or directly from file explorer. And no, they are not in the same location. So there's that. Maybe you could help me with all this info provided.
Hello,
I just wanted to mention that I also had this "unable to open project" problem and the reason was that the folders containing the main project had Chinese writing. uVision is probably not able to recognize these Chinese characters.
I leave the images in case someone is useful
