I tried setting up the MCBSTR9 board directly to laptop using a cross-over cable. I loaded a DHCP server on the laptop that someone recommended, and ran a network analyzer program to watch what happens.
I set the ini file for DHCP server as instructed.
The initial packets from the MCBSTR9 are all DOD/UDP type packets, and I never see an ARP packet - so the DHCP server never responds with the IP address from the ini file. I force the laptop IP address as suggested in an SMSC CP220x demo board user guide (in Network Settings, etc)
I see in the example code the default IP address 192.168.0.100, but of course when it sends out the DOD/UDP packets (broadcast) the IP address shows up as 0.0.0.0. It would be nice if there was alternative build of the HTTP DEMO that just used a fixed IP address so that we can demo the board without involving the company network - just a crossover.
