I have two schematics for the xc167. One is labeled mcb-xc167, the other is mcb167net. In regards to the flash memory on the mcb-xc167, and I have seen this before, why Is A0 from the uP not attached to the memory and instead A1 from the uP goes to A0 on the memory?
The XC167 is configured for a 16-bit bus and the Flash is also in word mode so you select A1 of the micro to go to A0 of the flash and so on. You are using word addressing not byte addressing.
Absolutely right. This makes 16-bit addressing. Chris - welcome, you seems to become the new expert in this forum. ;-) Stefan
Hi Stefan, Thank you for the accolade, but in my job I support Infineon microcontrollers so I am just trying to contribute if possible when I see a related question. Best regards, -Chris
Hi Chris, it is my job too. But it seems you collect now intensive experiences with XC16x. Well done job. Stefan
Thanks Chris, I scanned a datasheet and app note and figured it out. Makes sense now........ Also since you support infineon processors, I have a question. I'm trying to get samples of the XC167 and I'm willing to pay for them. Infineon says that they cant sell directly to me, and Arrow says the part is only available in qty's of 1000. How is anyone suppose to build prototypes? The part numbers are SAF-XC167CI-32F40F BA or SAF-XC167CI-32F40F BBA Any suggestions?
All I can say is that I am surprised that Arrow would not provide you with some samples. Did you explain to Arrow your project milestones? How many did you ask for? Who did you talk to?
Thats exactly what I was thinking. I forget who I talked to, but Im gonna call back and talk to someone else. Im only looking for about 10 for now, but 10,000 yearly. I would think they could help out......
