C51 v4.01 under Win2000

Hi,

I have upgraded my PC from WinNT to Win2000.
Now my compiler v4.01 doesn't work anymore.
Failure message: Missing security device.

But the dongle is found by the newer version v7.00 and the chkdongle-tool.

Thanks for help

If you really need to keep using such an out-of-date compiler (and you may have a reason), you'd be better off to keep a system with a contemporary out-of-date OS to support it.

I still have a PC that can be booted into Win3.10!!

Or maybe you should just take this as a warning, and schedule some time to port your project to a current toolset & OS.

Note that Win2k is already obsolescent (if not actually obsolete), so there seems little point in spending any time getting it to work on Win2k and then still be out-of-date!
If you're going to go through the pain of updating (and it certainly can be a pain), then you might as well bite the bullet and get fully up-to-date.
