I need to exchange data (AT commands) between 8051 and IrDA enabled cellphones. I have an evaluation board (8051) with an RS-232. I'm looking to find a serial to IrDA converter but I haven't had much luck. Is there any device that can do this the you are aware of? Mass.
Use the 'Search' on this site - it's been discussed before. Also, look for "SIR" - that's "Serial InfraRed". It basically takes the serial data from a UART and turns it into pulses of IR. http://www.irda.org/ Vishay also make suitable devices.
