Generating trace using Tarmac trace plug-in

Hi,

I have a couple of questions regarding generating traces on using the Tarmac trace plug-in. I'm using the FVP_VE_CortexA9x4 fixed virtual platform running Linaro Android.

1- I want to start trace generation at a specific point in time. When I use the start-instruction-count parameter to set the instruction count, I can only see the trace from CPU0 being generated. I don't see the traces from other CPUs. But if I don't use this parameter, I can (correctly) see the traces from all CPUs. Is this a bug?

2- When connecting the ModelDebugger to the running simulation, I cannot see the controls for the Tarmac trace plug-in in the "Set Parameters" section of the Debug menu for the CPU components. Is this also a bug?

3- Is there any way to selectively turn the tracing on/off in the middle of the simulation? I don't know a priori the instruction count that I need to start the tracing, and this makes the start-instruction-count parameter difficult to use.

  Thanks,

  Amin

  •   Hi George,

Thank you for your reply, below please find more detailed information/questions:

1- FVP_VE_Cortex_A9x4 -v says: Fast Models [8.2.72 (Aug 15 2013)]. I'm using the version that comes standard with the 30 day evaluations of DS-5

          modeldubugger -v says: Model Debugger 8.3.029 (Nov 19 2013)

I'm currently using the 30 day evaluation version of both of these tools to see if they are capable of doing what I require, hence I don't believe I can submit a support request.

2- In the "Tarmac Trace for Fast Models User Guide", section 2.2.1 Figure 2.1 shows a dialog box that allows Modeldebugger to adjust parameters for the Tarmac trace plug-in. I wanted to open the same dialog box by using the aforementioned menu.

3- Can you please explain further about how I can do this using MTI? I don't want to create my own model or tracing. I just want to start/stop FVP_VE_Cortex_A9x4's processor traces in the middle of the simulation, where I don't know the cycle count to start the trace from the very beginning.

      Thanks,

      Amin
