Hi. I want to test some software migration to ARM via FVP. For that I need to be able to debug it on Linux. I found this document about "Linux Application Debugging using Arm DS" on https://developer.arm.com/documentation/102583/0100?lang=en. It states that there is a FVP called "Cortex-A9x4 pre-configured to boot Arm Embedded Linux" installed with Arm DS. But I cannot find it in my installation. I am using DS on Windows 10.Thx a lot for your help.
Ralph
Hi Ralph,
As per the referenced document:> This tutorial is only applicable to versions up to Arm DS 2019.0 as future releases will not include pre-configured models to boot Arm Embedded Linux.
One option (though not recommended) would be to download an older version:https://developer.arm.com/downloads/-/arm-development-studio-downloads
There are Linux images for FVPs available, but they will need a little work. Full instructions are here:https://community.arm.com/oss-platforms/w/docs/509/fvps
An alternative solution may be one of the very many low cost development boards available that are supplied with Linux 'out-of-the-box', or with images readily available (eg Raspberry Pi):https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/
Rappberry Pi 4 and iMX8 are also available as part of Arm Virtual Hardware, and are supplied with Linux images:https://avh.arm.com/
If you can better qualify what your use case is, perhaps I can advise more (I am a Solutions Architect at Arm). Feel free to send me a DM (please include your email address).
Hope some of this helps...
