4 way stack

Hi,
I have searched a lot for the phrase "4 way entry stack" that is mentioned in the arm programmers guide, that it is the way Cortex R4 implements stack.
can somebody explain what exactly does that mean?

  • You're not thinking of a 4 entry return stack are you? That's an internal feature of the processor which enables it to predict quickly where to return to at the end of a subroutine.
