Cortex-A5 Evaluation boards

Hi All,

Is there any evaluation boards available in the market for cortex A-5 ?. I would like to evaluate A-5 performance against A-8. Any pointers suggestions for this also welcome.

Are you aware of any boards with Cortex A-5 so that I can actually see this performance difference. I am using Beagleboard XM for Cortex A-8.

AFAIK, there is no SoC based on ARM Cortex-A5 available publicly today.

At the same frequency Cortex-A8 will be faster.

Cortex-A5 has a very small area footprint and designed for extreme power efficiency. Performance wise it is above an ARM11, but lower than a Cortex-A8. If you look at the "products" pages of the website you see the DMIPS figures for the two cores (1.57 DMIPS/MHz for the A5, and 2 DMIPS/MHz for the A8).

The core number is very very approximately indicative of performance position in the processor family - so the speed rankings are A5, A8, A9, A15.

Footnote - the Cortex-A5 does support multi-core, Cortex-A8 does not. If you have a 2x, 3x, or 4x core Cortex-A5 implementation and an algorithm that can be multi-threaded then you may find it goes much faster than a Cortex-A8.

I know this thread is older and dead, but people still seem to find it when searching the forum. Thus here is something that will help them find an answer:
