Welcome to Arm Education’s ‘In Conversation With…” series of interviews.
During these conversations, we’ll focus on the history of the Arm-based microprocessor, and its development to the present day.
In the first episode, we interview Sophie Wilson, renowned computer scientist and engineer who co-designed the first Arm processor. Sophie shares with us her insights into the genesis of the project, and why making things is still important in today's world
In this extract from the interview, Sophie shares the importance she places on ‘making things’ and understanding ‘how things are made.’ According to Sophie, it is a crucial skill that we are in danger of losing in today’s world. The electronics and semiconductor industries are predicated on the capabilities of people who “know how to make things and know how to make things work.”
