Researchers can now get free access to Arm IP and tools for academic research use more easily than ever before, with the launch of Arm Academic Access.

Find out more

The widest range of Arm IP and tools available to academia

Whatever your research goals, Arm Academic Access can help you achieve research success. The program provides free access to a wide array of IP and tools. These include access to full RTL for a range of Arm Cortex-A, Cortex-R and Cortex-M CPUs, Mali GPUs, tools, and subsystems. With such broad range of industry-proven IP from the world’s leading SoC design portfolio, academic researchers can unlock new opportunities for research projects. This enables them to focus on the research questions that matter most. Visit our website to find out which IP and tools are included in the package.

Access when you need it

Access to the program is available to academic institutions at no charge, solely for non-commercial research. We have also worked hard to simplify the process, making it quicker and easier than ever before to get started on academic research using a wide range of Arm technologies.

Interested researchers simply need to submit an access request. Our team will work with their institution to arrange their membership, and ensure they have everything they need to get started using Arm IP.

Once an institution is part of the program, faculty users can easily download the IP and tools that they need, rather than requiring authorization on an individual or per-project basis.

Continued support for academic innovation

Arm Academic Access is the latest enhancement to the support we have provided for academia for many years. In addition to the new opportunities available to institutions through the Arm Academic Access program, individual researchers can still access Arm processor IP through DesignStart. Access to Cortex-M0, Cortex-M3, and Cortex-A5 is available through our DesignStart Eval and DesignStart Academic Pro programs. These processor IPs are industry-proven and have been deployed in billions of devices worldwide, giving researchers the potential for their work to have a significant impact.

Choose the DesignStart package that's best for you and your project. If you have a more specialized need, including for physical IP, please speak to our team who are happy to help.

Supporting Startups

For academics looking to spin out a startup, Arm Flexible Access for Startups offers free access to Arm IP for qualifying early-stage startups. Startups can design, develop, and manufacture prototype silicon in a commercial setting for $0. Find out more about the program benefits and why Arm is the right partner for you.

Additional Resources

We work closely with institutions worldwide to offer support and a wide range of resources. This helps to drive academic research success, through our collaboration and enablement programs, and support educators and students with high-quality teaching and learning resources through Arm Education.
