Get ready for the IoT race with the new system design kit

The Arm System Design Kits (also known as Arm CoreLink System Design Kits or SDKs) have been rebranded into Arm Corstone foundation IP.

Picking the right solution for your next SoC, requires combining lots of different elements together. In order to make this process a little easier, Arm created the Arm System Design Kits (SDKs) and they are designed to be a complete toolbox for designers to use. The Arm System Design Kits help you build your system even faster, with verified configurable and modifiable or flexible subsystems, which pre-integrate the processor with the most relevant system components. Depending on the class of system you’re building, Arm have a SoC solution to match. In this blog post, I want to introduce you to one member of the System Design Kit family: the Arm SDK-200 System Design Kit. This SDK combines the best system-level IP from Arm for embedded and IoT applications, giving you the perfect starting point for your next SoC design.

SDK-200 contains a complete toolbox for designers: from essential system IP (like small components, bridges and interconnects), to a full-scale IoT subsystem implementing TrustZone protection, with many features for fine-grained power management and performance enhanced by cache systems. The toolbox includes the following major constituents: CMSDK, AHB Flash Cache, SIE-200 system IP and the SSE-200 subsystem.

This is great news for designers! This new product brings many benefits:

  • Saving time – SDK-200 contains essential elements to build any kind of system, including those with TrustZone support. Its subsystem and example systems are great starting points: you don’t have to build everything from scratch anymore!
  • Reducing risk – Implementing security right is very complex! Using a pre-verified subsystem with security support, expanded with reliable bridges and TrustZone filters allows to increase the confidence that your system will ultimately be secure.
  • Designed for Cortex-M – all the IP contained in SDK-200 is designed to complement the Cortex-M processors. This is key for the newest members of the family, which require adapted interconnect and TrustZone filters.
  • Simple! – You no longer need to worry about picking the right system IP product, or missing something important from your next design! The SDK-200 packages all the essential components to adapt to most cases.
  • Software and tools support – the IoT subsystem within the SDK-200 is the reference architecture inside Arm and through the Arm ecosystem for secure software development and tooling. Using the subsystem allows you to benefit from a range of open-source software and ensure tool support out of the box. A fast model is even available to help you develop applications before silicon is available.
