More than 3400 product announcements. 700 applications. Less than 20 winners selected for 2012.
It was a great honor for the ARM® Cortex™-A57 and A53 processors based on the ARMv8 architecture to receive a prestigious "Product of the Year" award from Electronic Products Magazine. Several dozen ARM employees looked on as Electronic Products' West Coast editor Jim Harrison presented this award to Simon Segars, president of ARM, this week at ARM's San Jose office. During his presentation Jim discussed how each year, the magazine's editors review thousands of new products, and he described the heated discussions to determine winners based on their contribution to technology advancement and innovative design, in addition to success in price and performance.
This honor really confirms the positive feedback we have received from our Partners across the ARM ecosystem. The Cortex-A50 processor series is enabling a whole new computing experience for consumers driven by 64-bit processor technology, big.LITTLE™ processing, and other performance and power advancements. These innovations are in high demand not only in ARM's traditional mobile market, but also in the emerging class of ARM processor-based solutions for the enterprise. We've seen strong demand for products like these from our partners and this award helps to validate ARM's ability to deliver products that meet that demand.Receiving such an award from Electronic Products, a recognized leader in publications targeted at the engineering community, highlights ARM's leadership in furthering low-power, high-performance technologies. "When ARM brings out a new core, it's big news, especially when this new core is the first to use the 64-bit ARMv8 architecture. We look forward to seeing Cortex-A53 and Cortex-A57 processors hit the market, and deliver a balance of performance and power not seen before," said Harrison. The ARM Cortex-A50 series extends ARM's traditional 32-bit processing with added performance and improved efficiency, while introducing a new, energy-efficient 64-bit processing technology to address a diverse set of markets from servers to smartphones. Whether used independently or combined into a big.LITTLE™ processor configuration, these processors will revolutionize the mobile experience for consumers, by allowing increased capabilities without sacrificing performance. The recognition from Electronic Products highlights ARM's longstanding commitment to transforming the mobile experience through low-power advancements. As the world's most energy-efficient 64-bit processors, the Cortex-A50 series processors deliver up to three times the performance of today's Superphones. Winning this award was an honor for ARM, but we are especially excited about all of the new products the Cortex-A50 series will enable. More blogs about the Cortex-A50 series:
