2023, from a training perspective, will go down as a year of consolidation. A year where all of the learnings and changes to training caused by the global pandemic were firmly integrated and standardized into our ongoing training approach.
What has become very clear over the last 12 months is that a one size fits all approach to training does not work. Partners that on the face of it seem as if they have the same training need, on further investigation can have very different requirements.
From location, and desire to learn in person or remotely, to the immediacy of the training and level of experience, no two training courses are ever the same. Ways to understand training needs and customize the training content and delivery to meet them are now more critical than ever. Gone are the days when a standard course outline delivered face to face in a physical classroom was the norm.
2023 has been the year that custom courses, flexible delivery, and a central digital aspect to the training has become consistent.
In the last 12 months over 2000 new videos have been added to the training platform. These videos now range from short 2-3 minute introductory modules to full deep, technical content that take 20 minutes to 2 hours deliver. Having this video content opens numerous opportunities to help deliver the training.
We have seen the videos used as:
Online video training has also become the first stage in welcoming new partners signing up to Arm Flexible Access with a full onboarding introduction live on the platform.

Other new content created and released this year include.
It has not all been about creating new content. Much of our existing content has been reviewed with large scale changes being made to the Introduction to Arm, AMBA and TrustZone for Cortex-M modules. More information on the online training available is available here:

Online training has also been popular outside of the Arm training platform. Over 5000 delegates signed up to the Arm Cortex-M training made available on the Coursera platform. Half of these delegates went on to complete the course and gain a certificate.

Online training has become a standard part of our training offering and has helped support many of our Instructor Led training sessions. Virtual training remains the most popular. They are quicker to organize and can be delivered in more flexible time slots over a longer period. Virtual training appeals to teams that are geographically dispersed, or that prefer not to have to spend 3 days plus onsite. By using videos with this approach, it allows the instructor led elements to be live check ins of the video content with direction on what content should be consumed next. This approach has been proved to increase interaction, engagement, and enjoyment of not just the delegates, but the trainers as well.
We have also seen a significant increase in onsite training, where notice has been given, and travel arrangements made for the delegates and trainers. Onsite training requires more upfront organization and notice. However, it does bring with it slightly higher feedback scores and gives a very different collaborative, ‘team’ learning experience.
One of the biggest changes in 2023 has been understanding more fully and upfront our partners training needs. The use of a Training Information questionnaire and a pre-course call, both help ensure that the training covers what is required and is delivered it the best possible way.
Following on from feedback from delegates, a key focus for 2023 will be around assessments, knowledge checks, and certificates. Work is underway to create more questions and answers to check for understanding. We are encouraged to hear that our training platform will receive updates to improve its assessment and certificate functionality. We also plan to surface video content through Arm Developer Search and to refine and simplify the sign in procedure. Thus making this comprehensive source of technical content even more accessible than ever.
New video content will also be required to support the launches of Arm’s new, exciting technologies and solution planned for the year ahead. There are also plans to build on the success of our Cortex-M Coursera course, by creating and adding an Arm AMBA course to the platform.
What is certain is that the Engineers will be busy in creating the content and the training team busy refining and supporting its delivery. This means continuing to help customers avoid issues in their design and help get their product to market quicker.
