Android to Linux Distro

I expect to have a Rockchip RK3288-based system, (quad-core Cortex-A17's), which comes pre-loaded with KitKat. Is there any documentation on whether, and if so, how I could build a Linux system around the same kernel, so as to create a dual-boot Android/Linux system? Answers on a post-card......

    Thank you, Jerome, for your rapid response; I can see that I need to do a LOT of research here! I was rather puzzled by the "Linux on NAND" document; they are very negative about NAND in terms of read/write speeds. They quote read speeds in the region of 14-20MB/second. Yet, the RK3288 comes with a minimum of 8GB  of eMMC, which, presumably. it uses for critical data such as the Swap File. I note that you have expertise in the RK3188; what does that use for high-speed data storage? And how does the 14-20MB/s figure stack up against Samsung's own figures of 100-200MB/sec?
