Interfacing GSM module with STM32F0xx

I am interfacing a gsm module with stm32f0 board. I am new to this section.

I want to send and receive AT command to gsm module and receive its response via UART.

Sending section is completed but problem with receiving part.

In typical application response is in blocking mode or in interrupt mode?

please get me out this thing.
