PWM and ISD

I have downloaded the PWM project files CAPCOM_PWM. They compile and simulate correctly. I can also load the code into my MCB900 board (ver 2) using the latest FlashMagic with the jumper RESET installed. It runs OK when I move the jumper to RUN. If I then connect the serial cable, execution stops.
The problem is that I cannot program the chip from within KEIL using ISD. I have added ISD51.a51 and ISD51.h to my project, but I get a load error every time. Other projects load and work fine. I have checked the FlashMagic command line and modified it in accordance with the instructions on the esacademy website.
Does anyone have a solution?

    If I then connect the serial cable, execution stops.

    before powering up make sure ground for the PC and ground for your thingy is the same. CAREFUL, I have seen the insulation on wires melt when PC 'ground' was connectd to actuial ground.
