Just downloaded MDK 4.23 and installed, but Bitdefender pops up with message that ARMO.dll is infected with torjan, my systems is clean, any solution please
Regards Dj
I downloaded from keil website, the file is c:\keil\ARM\BIn\TARMO.dll, virus is Trojan.Generic.KDV.387781
A false positive.
I don't agree ! I don't think it's a 'false positive' because f.secure also detected this trojan in my MDK423.exe file AND the same trojan in my restore partition (twice). Moreover, the compiler crashed two or three times because of that DLL. I've' just sent a mail to Neomore about that.
Note that if DLL and exe file are created by same company, it's likely that Keil has a code sequence that just happens to compile into something that matches this signature. And that Keil code compiles into a signature match both for exe file and DLL since both exe file and DLL contains some common code.
And it is then easy to get that same signature code into your restore partition too. So your proofs really aren't proofs but quite expected behaviour.
Another alternative is that you really do have a virus - a virus that infects files directly when you install them.
Just out of interest, I ran my copy of TARMO.dll (from MDK version 4.23) through http://www.virustotal.com and there are 9 out of 41 reported items; however my copies of McAfee and Security Essentials don't mention a problem.
"Moreover, the compiler crashed two or three times because of that DLL."
I've not witnessed any compiler crash or anything like it "because of that DLL".
Trouble is, some people seem to have too much faith in what these virus checkers report, have little understanding what they really do and are (and are not) capable of doing.
