Gary: What does half the stuff on this message board have to do with Keil? I agree with the post by John Hart (25/3/11) - it seems like this forum has become a general 'C' programmers forum rather than a forum on the specifics of ARM/Keil.
Tamir: Don't know about others, but I don't have a problem with C related questions. Hell, if people have a doubt about something - it is not always easy for find answers for a very specific situation in a text book - let them ask. Why not, actually?
Andy: I think a more fundamental problem is not whether it has anything to do with Keil or not, but whether the originators of such posts have given the question any thought themselves at all. That, surely, is a prerequisite to finding an appropriate forum...?
If you can not make a for loop, but am trying to do it using Keil it can be seen as a Keil question. I would agree with Gary if the question indeed was about a for loop, but things like recursive, reentrant, function pointers, malloc, .... do have special requirements/effects with some of the processors Keil makes toolset for. Where is the baseline between "general C" and "Keil related", I would always lean towards "OK for the Keil forum" so I agree with Tamir.
I think Andys point is much more relevant, and want to add that "given the question any thought themselves" should result in a clear, well formulated post. It seems thus that very few posters have "given the question any thought themselves".
also the posters that are too lazy to use English, and use SMS should not have their question answered till they reformulate it in English. Do notethat I refer to SMS, not problems of a non-native English speaker, I have deciphred posts in "English" with no complaints.
