Everyone,
The broken forum links are now fixed. Thanks for your patience.

Go on - what was the problem, then?
The oscillation over-thruster that drives the flux capacitor was leaking subatomic particles and creating dust bunnies that eventually led to overpopulation on our high-speed, rotational storage media.
We can't really tell you ALL of our secrets, you know. :-)

Sounds like they used the classic technology fix method; i.e., they did a reboot.
We have this group of servers that now and then manages to fill up a partition of the HDD with logs, in which case the affected machine will be mighty sad, and its users even more sad.
The machines has the ability to send out mails for a number of reasons, which would indicate that it would be trivial to make them also send out mails a couple of days before reaching critical levels on any disk partition. Especially since the logs grows at a constant speed. The "owner" of the machines has received suggestions for several years to add disk-almost-full mails, but probably considers this a too easy solution and prefers to allocate time a couple of years into the future for an automagic compress + tape + remove storage robot with ability to also float information between different machines.
I guess this problem exists in more companies than ours. After all, high-tech fixes are more fun :)
Are Jon Ward and Reinhard Keil that Jon Ward and Reinhard Keil?
They do post now and then on this forum, and have the ability to remove posts faking them, so it would be reasonable to assume so as long as the message contents and language of the posts does not indicate something else.
Jon often posts about the forum - problems or possible improvements. Reinhard now and then drops in and post help about the tools and their use.
"The oscillation over-thruster that drives the flux capacitor was leaking..."
This wasn't due to perturbations in the time-space continuum caused by someone fiddling with a perpetual motion generator, was it...?

There is only ONE Jon Ward. May the Lord help us if ever there is a second. Bradford
... or if his older self should accidentally meet his younger self (or vice-versa) due to any unfortunate mishap with a time-machine...
Actually, we have alerts in place. The problem we experienced was exacerbated by a combination of issues.
That perpetual motion generator is just a box of used pinball machine parts. :-)
reboot?
Nope. Mr. Fusion ran out of raw material and we had to find more.
