processor behavior when exposed to excessive temperature

Hello all,
I selected ARM as the toolchain but I guess this is a general question actually. Every device that I saw so far clearly specifies the allowed temperature operational range. But what happens in terms of electrical properties if you, say, exceed that by heating the device (stopping short of melting the device)?

  • Erik,
No, I am not in the weapons industry. My conscious would not allow that. I am curious because somebody asked me, and I didn't really know what to say. And then I asked myself: "what would I have done in such a situation?".
control units of the kind that I work with are not expected to be exposed to more than, say, 50 degree celsius.
