Technique to read MAC address from SPI Serial EEPROM

I would like to know whether one could read the MAC address from SPI EEPROM
Actually the parameter RAM values are overlapping in case of ethernet and SPI bus ,how to resolve this conflict and yet write a function which calculates and reads the MAC address from EEPROM
