i wanted to know if i can use microcontroller IC T89C5115 for driving circuits like sourcing currents for MOSFETs etc. i'm also thinking of using a Buffer IC 4050 for it. how can i use it and will it be sufficient to protect my microcontroller while driving the circuits. the voltage i require at the output is 8V. thank you.
To my knowledge the CMOS 4050 is a level shifter that provides exactly the protection that you need. Reinhard
" wanted to know if i can use microcontroller IC T89C5115 for driving circuits like sourcing currents for MOSFETs etc" Read the T89C5115 Data Sheet - it will give you the voltage & current ratings of all the pins (but "traditional" 8051 port pins are not good for sourcing current - only sinking). For information on driving MOSFETs, try visiting a few MOSFET manufacturers' websites and looking through their data sheets, application notes, etc... "... Buffer IC 4050 ... will it be sufficient ..." Again, you need to read the 4050 Data Sheet - it will give you all the voltage & current ratings.
