I assume you know the system well. It is a very unfortunate situation, but all of us here are well aware that India is a huge country and hopefully, the majority of students don't exercise such practices! I don't think any respected college/university in the west of other places with high standards would tolerate such behavior and would answer it by an immediate and permanent expulsion.
