MCB4300 issues

Hi, I'm having trouble getting digital inputs and the DAC working on my MCB4300 (using CMSIS library and examples). I have SPI, RIT and outputs working fine. So it very strange and must be something stupid on my part.
Firstly on the inputs I can't even see the status of the P4_0 switch when debugging and looking at the system viewer (GPIO_PORTS) this switch translates to Port 2 CH 0 (I think) but there is no reaction in code and no change on the system viewer (even single stepping). The port is defaulted as a GPIO and input and I have confirmed this. there is a pull up resistor and scoping the pin pressing the button swings it from 0 to 3.3V. Is there something that I need to enable?
On the DAC the pin looks correct P4_4, I've setup the SCU (ENAIO2) so it's a DAC not digital, its in the correct mode (GPIO) but there is nothing coming out.
Help please, thanks.
