I still say it's better to at least give them the opportunity to learn something, rather than just be defeatist and assume they won't.
Which is you being defeatist. So you've just contradicted yourself from one sentence to the next. You'll have to excuse us for not awarding much credibility to your other statements, then.
Well, in your case, defeatism is the best course of action. There is no point in wasting a cogent argument on those who ... there's no point in even continuing with you. Ignore mode enabled. Good bye.
You've probablu got that the wrong way around. You learnt your knowledge from the bible. Others learn from the bible. It's hardly likely that it's your knowledge in the bible, just that what you're aware of the same knowledge contained within it.
I think you got that wrong. I was not refering to The Bible, but to "the bible" www.8052.com/.../120112 and when I were new to the game there were many "oh, good to know" moments when looking for somethng else.
How do I know the river in Boston is the James? Having read Robert B. Parker, not by seeking that information specifically.
Erik
He has now posted in a more appropriate forum:
e2e.ti.com/.../225854.aspx
No Erik, I did not get it wrong.
I know the difference, look at the capitalisation I used.
You said:
I am not going to guess how much, but I know for sure that some of my knowledge has been acquired through the above.
What I questioned was your suggestion that others learnt the knowledge thay you refer to as my from the bible. In reality, unless you did contribute to Intel's original text, you learnt it as you suggest others might.
Promising. But are you suggesting that he posted there as a result of the reading of the FAQ? The times of your posting regarding the FAQ and his initial posting on the TI forum indicate something else to me.
And if you think there is hope everywhere, be careful: the person that the barren referred to is without doubt the exceptiolon that proves the rule.
In The Times today:
"People say you can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink. That's true, but if you don't take the horse to water in the first place they're never going to drink."
I'm such a doofus!

Who can say?
"times of your posting regarding the FAQ and his initial posting on the TI forum indicate something else to me"
Are you sure the times use the same timezone?
I think he had not reposted until after my post. Even if I'm right, of course, that doesn't tell us whether he read the FAQ or not.
"if you think there is hope everywhere, be careful"
There is hope. It may or may not be fulfilled...
I did wonder that myself. But it would be nice to think that someone who saw an epiphany would be a little bit quicker in showing appreciation.
What the headmaster of Eton said is predictable. But I, having been a member of the public school system, certainly saw the more realistic approach!
Hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.
